If are you thinking of a place to visit with your fur babies; try Asheville, N.C. Here your pets can lounge beside café tables and walk through downtown Asheville and a lot of hotels and cabins offer amenities suitable for pets. You may pamper your pooch at the Aloft Pet Luxury Marriot Bonvoy Hotel which is located in downtown Asheville.
Your pooches will receive their own doggie bed, water bowl and access to a rooftop dog run. Both your canine and feline babies are welcome with no pet fee! For all of those future pet parents; Aloft also has its own pet adoption program. The hotel partners with Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue to foster one pup at a time. The lucky pooch wears on “adopt me” vest throughout his stay and the potential parents are screened to find a good match.

While you are visiting Asheville and Buncombe County please remember to keep your dog on a leash. However, there are two dog parks near downtown Asheville; 1) The French Broad River Park (580 Riverview Dr.) which is one of the most beautiful parks as it follows the contours of the river. It features a large fenced-area. It has wood chips, fresh water, and dog waste bags. 2) The Azalea Dog Park (395 Azalea Rd) is near the new John B. Lewis Soccer Complex. There are two separated fenced areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs. There is also a small dog park in Black Mountain at River Walk Park (205 N. Carolina 9).
Please remember that dogs are not allowed at downtown festivities in Asheville. Please check with the festival organizers before arriving to see if it’s okay to bring your fur baby. If you are looking for a place to buy dog treats and toys Downtown Asheville has a plethora of doggie boutiques. There are plenty of places in Asheville that provide “doggie daycare” where your dog will receive tender loving care and be closely monitored.
A few choices you might want to try are The Pet Vet on Patton (2 Hansel Ave.), The Dog House (1054 Riverside Dr.), At Play with Sparky (542 Short McDowell St.), You’ll Work, I’ll Play (677A Brevard Rd.) and Urban Dog Retreat (900 W. Chapel Rd.). For all of these locations your dog needs to be up to date on vaccinations (some have more specific or stricter policies) and most require a reservation or advance notice.
If your pooch needs emergency medical care you can take him or her to REACH which is open on holidays as well.
